The challenge of providing comfort to pet owners during a pandemic
Companions Haven has been serving pet owners for over 30 years and we have every intention of continuing our service through the Covid- 19 outbreak. It is a sad fact that pet owners will continue to need our services whilst they also need to follow the new government rules. One of the benefits of being a small family firm is our ability to be flexible and adapt to different situations. We have changed our procedures so that we are able to maintaining social distancing and therefore keep both our clients and team members safe.
One of the challenges this has created has been how to try and provide some comfort to our bereaved clients ‘remotely’. One of the most important aspects of the service we provide is to listen; we like to hear the stories people share with us about their pet’s lives, we are there to hold a hand or offer a hug if it helps. These days, we are still more than happy to chat to pet owners but it is now over the phone rather than face to face and the hugs are out for now! Talking about loss is a very important part of the grieving process for many owners. At Companions Haven we understand this and are happy to continue to offer this service during these challenging times.
