Either way, there is no need to have everything decided straight away. Our team can talk you through the available pet crematorium services, answer your questions and explain what happens next. There is no pressure to make decisions before you are comfortable doing so.
Bringing Your Pet into Our Care
Once arrangements have been made, there are several ways your pet can come into our care.
Some families choose to bring their pet directly to our pet crematorium. Our peaceful garden room overlooks the garden and provides a quiet place where you can spend some final time with your companion.
If you would prefer not to make the journey, we can arrange a respectful collection from your home. Home collection is free within a 10-mile radius of Companions Haven, with a mileage charge applying for collections further afield.
We can also collect your pet from your veterinary practice. If you choose this option, you simply need to give your vet permission for us to collect your pet on your behalf.
Taking Time to Say Goodbye
There is no right or wrong way to say goodbye to a pet. Some owners find comfort in having a calm moment with their companion before the cremation, while others prefer to remember them at home.
At Companions Haven, you can spend time with your pet in our garden room before their individual cremation. You can also request personal touches such as a fur clipping or paw print, or let us know whether there is something particularly important to you.
These small details will become precious memories and can provide solace in the weeks and years that follow.
Individual Pet Cremation and What It Means
One of the most important choices when arranging a pet cremation is whether you want an individual cremation. At Companions Haven, individual cremation means your pet is cared for in their own private cremation space.
Following the cremation, the ashes are carefully collected and prepared for their return to you. The cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned between services and strict identification procedures are followed throughout the process. This provides reassurance that the ashes returned to you are those of your beloved pet.
Whether you are arranging dog cremation, cat cremation or the cremation of another much-loved companion, the same care and respect are given at every stage.
Choosing a Special Way to Remember Your Pet
Once the cremation has taken place, you can decide how you would like to remember your pet. Some families choose to keep their companion’s ashes in a casket or urn at home, while others prefer to scatter them somewhere that carries special memories.
Companions Haven also offers a selection of keepsakes and ashes jewellery, providing another way to keep a small part of your pet close to you.
There is no particular way you have to remember your pet. What matters is finding something that feels meaningful to you and reflects the relationship you shared.
Receiving Your Pet’s Ashes
After the cremation, you can choose how you would like your pet’s ashes to be returned.
You are welcome to collect them from Companions Haven, or we can arrange delivery to your home. Where required, we may also be able to return the ashes to your local veterinary practice.
We understand that having your pet’s ashes returned can be an important part of saying goodbye. Our aim is to make this final stage as uncomplicated and reassuring as possible. Ashes are usually ready to be returned within a few days, although we will always do our best to accommodate your wishes if you need them sooner.
